Why is houndstooth associated with Alabama football?

Houndstooth is strongly associated with University of Alabama football because legendary coach Paul “Bear” Bryant was known for wearing houndstooth hats on the sidelines. The classic black-and-white pattern has since become a recognizable part of Alabama game-day style.

Iconic Style: The Houndstooth Connection

Make a bold, sophisticated statement with the signature Black & White Houndstooth Strap. While houndstooth is a classic pattern born in Scottish textile history, it holds a legendary place in Southern heritage and Alabama Crimson Tide football culture.

Famous for being the trademark pattern of legendary Alabama head coach Paul "Bear" Bryant, houndstooth is the unofficial uniform for Alabama game days in Tuscaloosa. Paired with a sleek, matte black quilted puffer body, this interchangeable guitar strap lets you show off your game day pride with high-fashion flair—making it an absolute must-have accessory for tailgating, stadium visits, and football season gifts.
